Tug Champion is a twin-screw model bow steel tug powered by two 12V-71 Detroit Diesel engines. She is 67 feet long, has a beam of 22 feet, is 8 feet in depth from deck to keel, and draws 7 feet in a loaded condition. Champion has been involved in dredging operations, international trade, river work, reef building, salvage operations, and various other types of deployments both offshore and inshore. Acquired by McCulley Marine Services in 2000, Champion has had extensive steel work replaced topside, including new watertight doors installed. 90% of the electrical wiring has been replaced and both main engines have been rebuilt. Her last dry-dock was December of 2023. Champion’s safety package meets and exceeds US Coast Guard requirements for 50 + miles offshore. |
